What it is?

Sparks is an awareness-raising project to show Europeans that they can get involved in science and that various stakeholders share the responsibility for scientific research and innovation.

Sparks is a project to familiarize and engage European citizens with the concept and practice of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) through the topic of technology shifts in health and medicine.

Sparks is aimed at bridging the gap between the super-fast pace of scientific innovation and society through an interactive travelling exhibition and over 230 engaging activities taking place across the whole of the European Union.

This pan-European exhibition will show how ordinary people are harnessing science in all sorts of ways: from patient-innovation to Do-It-Yourself (DIY) biology, tackling public health challenges such as air pollution, antibiotic resistance or disease outbreaks. Exhibition was conceived to create an experience that could be shared by visitors across Europe, beyond linguistic boundaries. ‘Beyond the Lab’ was specially designed to tour 29 European countries between July 2016 and May 2018.

The exhibition “Beyond the Lab” will be open at Cēsis Brewery (Pils laukums 15)  from 4th July till 31st August.
